What do children learn in music school?

Any adult is interested to know what children do for 5-7 years at a music school, what they study and what results they achieve.

The main subject in such a school is a specialty - it is an individual lesson in playing an instrument (piano, violin, flute, etc.). In a special class, students receive most of their practical skills - possession of an instrument, technical equipment, and confident reading of notes. In accordance with the curriculum, children attend the specialty lessons throughout the entire period of study at school, the weekly workload on the subject averages two hours.

The next very important subject of the whole training cycle is solfeggio - classes, the purpose of which is the purposeful and comprehensive development of musical hearing through singing, conducting, playing and hearing analysis. Solfeggio is an extremely useful and effective subject that helps many children in musical development. In this discipline, children also receive most of the information on musical theory. Unfortunately, the subject solfeggio not everyone likes. The lesson is scheduled once a week and lasts one academic hour.

Musical literature is a subject that appears in the schedule of high school students and has been studied in a music school for four years. The subject broadens the students ’horizons and their knowledge of music and art in general. The composers' biographies and their main compositions are being passed on (they are heard and thoroughly understood in class). For four years, students have time to get acquainted with the main problems of the subject, to study many styles, genres and forms of music. Each year is set aside for acquaintance with classical music of Russia and abroad, as well as acquaintance with modern music.

Solfeggio and musical literature are group subjects, usually a group of not more than 8-10 students of one class. Group lessons, which are going to even more children are the choir and orchestra. These subjects, as a rule, are loved by children most of all, there they actively communicate with each other and enjoy the pleasure of playing together. In the orchestra, the guys often master some additional, second instrument (mainly from the drum and string-plucked group). In the classroom choir practiced fun games (in the form of singing and vocal exercises), singing the voices. Both in the orchestra and in the choir, students learn to work together in teams, listen attentively to each other and help each other.

In addition to the main subjects mentioned, other supplementary subjects are sometimes introduced in music schools, for example, an additional instrument (student’s choice), ensemble, accompaniment, conducting, composition (composition and recording of music) and others.

What is the result? As a result, this is what: during the years of study, children receive a tremendous musical experience. At a sufficiently high level, they own one of the musical instruments, they can play one or two other instruments, they are purely intonate (they play without fake notes, they sing well). In addition, in the music school, children receive a huge intellectual base, become more erudite, develop mathematical skills. Public performances at concerts and contests liberate the personality, temper his will, motivate him to success and help creative realization. Finally, they gain invaluable experience in communication, find reliable friends and learn hard work.
